Terrace on the Ohře River

The land is located near the picturesque village of Dolejší Hůrky with a beautiful view of the mudflats and the valley of the Ohře River (about 1km from the site) between the towns of Žatec and Louny. The village is divided into two parts by the railway line and the campsite is located in the upper part of the village along the road No. 2501.
The terrace is in a quiet and secluded place about 500 meters from the owner's house. Below the terrace there are only a few cottages and the local railway line. The view from the terrace is unobstructed. The land itself is flat and large, there is a fireplace.
Access is via a solid gravel road. It is passable even in wet weather. The plot is without facilities - please clean up after yourself and take away. By prior arrangement it is possible to get drinking water in a canister from the owners.

Royal town of Žatec

Žatec is one of the oldest towns in Central Europe. The first written mention dates back to 1004. The establishment of the medieval town was crowned by a charter from 1265, by which King Přemysl Otakar II granted Žatec significant privileges.

Žatecko is world-famous for its quality hops, which have been grown here for over 700 years. In 2023, the Žatec hop-growing region was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which confirms its uniqueness and historical value. The town of Žatec, often referred to as the "city of hops", attracts visitors with its Hop Museum, the largest of its kind in the world. Furthermore, the Temple of Hops and Beer with its astronomical clock and hop lighthouse, which offers a magnificent view of Žatec's surroundings. The historical centre of the town offers a number of important buildings and a variety of styles from the Romanesque to Art Nouveau, e.g. the Town Hall, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the second largest Synagogue in Bohemia, the Meder House, etc. A walk through the town will take you back in time and introduce you to the rich tradition of hop growing. Chateau Stekník

Not far from Žatec is Stekník Castle with its Italian terraced garden, which is one of the most important rococo buildings in Bohemia. The monument creates a unique composition in the landscape associated with the tradition of hop growing in Žatec, this landscape with its hop gardens and buildings associated with hop processing and trade, including the Stekník Castle, has been inscribed as of September 2023** on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its exceptional value.

The Hop Route
The Hop Route at the Stekník Chateau in Žatecko is a hiking trail that presents the rich tradition and history of hop growing in this area, which is known as one of the main centres of Czech hop growing. The route leads through a picturesque landscape where visitors can see not only hop farms and modern hop farms, but also historical buildings and facilities associated with hop growing and processing. The route is ideal for lovers of nature, history and beer culture who want to enjoy the beauty of Žatecko while learning more about this important agricultural sector.

Military monuments and dugouts
Around the Lounsko and Žatecko region you will find a number of military monuments, including the so-called "kopjes", which are small concrete bunkers from before the Second World War. These fortresses were part of the defence line and today serve as interesting reminders of the region's military history. There is even one dugout (B1 100) dating from 1937 in the castle garden at Stekník.

Royal Town of Louny

The royal town of Louny was founded by the Přemyslids in the middle of the 13th century.
The Louny region is a cultural and historical jewel of northwest Bohemia. The town of Louny boasts the Gothic church of St. Nicholas and the Renaissance town hall. The core of the town is surrounded by a fortified belt with bastions and the Žatec Gate. The region is known for its picturesque landscape, ideal for hiking and cycling. Lunch tip: Zichovec Brewery.

Archeoskanzen Březno

Archaeoskanzen Březno near Louny is a great place for history and archaeology lovers. This open-air museum reconstructs life in prehistoric and early medieval times. Visitors can see replicas of dwellings and take part in various educational programmes. www.archeoskanzenbrezno.cz

Kounovské rows and menhirs

Not far from Louny are the Kounovské Rows, mysterious stone formations that still fascinate archaeologists and tourists. These stone rows and menhirs are considered to be prehistoric monuments with a still unclear purpose. A walk among these mysterious stones offers a unique experience and a glimpse into the ancient past.

Menhir the Enchanted Monk

The menhir called the Enchanted Monk, or also the Petrified Capuchin, stands slightly inclined by the dirt road leading from Drahomyšl northwards to Strkovice, about 400 metres from the northern edge of the village. It is the second most famous menhir in Bohemia.
