About the Cottage
This exceptional cottage, which sleeps up to 5 people in two bedrooms, is a great retreat for those seeking peace and contact with nature.
The cottage offers:

Amenities and Technology
The lodge intentionally does not provide technology such as television and wifi. You won't even need them here. Instead, connect to yourself and your loved ones, plan walks, sit by the fire pit, enjoy "slow mornings" on the porch and stargaze without the light smog.
A little history
The story of our cottage begins when water began to gradually flow into the Rome Reservoir. Originally, the cottage stood on the site of the Romov Dam. It had to be dismantled more than 50 years ago because of the dam.
The cottage is a dream come true for the Tomášeks. They built it again with their own hands in the valley of the Trebonínský brook in a forest cottage settlement between the villages of Rančice and Opalice.
It is a special place for us. My footsteps have led here since childhood. Back then, there was no electricity. Oh, those were the days... lighting kerosene lamps, cooking on stoves, bathing in the stream and going to the well for water.
A certain respect for the place and the surrounding countryside did not allow us to change or demolish the cottage significantly, but only to remodel and replace the non-functioning things with new and suitable ones. In 2022/2023 the cottage underwent a renovation of the entire attic and has a virtually new roof and insulation. Then, in 2024, we gently and sensitively redesigned the interior space so that the spirit of the original "backwoods cottage" would not disappear.
We have the cottage primarily for our own use, but we would like to share this special place with you, so from this summer it is possible to rent this experiential cottage near the Vltava River.
Surroundings of the cottage
The cottage is located in close proximity to meadows, fields, woods and a bubbling brook, offering countless activities:
- Hiking.
- Fishing.
- Mushroom picking. Be careful and only pick mushrooms that you can safely identify.
- Game and nature watching: Enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of nature, bird watching and other forest animals.
Good to know:
The cottage has electricity. There is no water in the cottage. Drinking water is available in a barrel. There is a chemical toilet in the hut.
