He was first imprisoned in nearby Drosendorf for petty theft at the age of nine. In Grasel's youth, the romantic viewpoint over the upper reaches of the Dyje River later became a strategic observation point during his persecution on his journeys from Austria to Moravia and back. The Grasel Trail around Vratěnín leads through the former closed border area, along dirt roads and through the forest. Among the highlights of the trail are the old mill road through the valley of the Dyje, the nature reserve Bílý kříž (White Cross) with a romantic view on the rock above the Dyje, and the Golden Well... In Český Rudolec, a slender, maidenly dressed young man - disguised as the Grazl - once came to the brewery and had a beer. He started talking, asking what was new in the region, and suddenly he said: "Do you know that a dangerous robber, the Thief, is here in the country? I hear he is going to rob the castle treasury!" "If it is true," replied the brewer, "we should hunt him out in the woods and catch him." ... the story goes on to tell how Count Leo Razumovsky summoned and armed his servants, with whom he then lurked in the woods for the Thief. In the meantime, the latter, in the manor's disguise, lured the keys from the steward and robbed the castle treasury..." From Český Rudolc, the Grasel Trail starts at the village square from the Church of St. John the Baptist. It leads along the road to Jindřichův Hradec, after the Rudolecký pond it turns left, along the road to Radíkov. After 1 km, the trail turns right at the edge of the forest, onto a forest road, and follows it to Horní Radíkov. Behind the village in the forest there is a place called Kutiště. Traces of silver mining are visible here. The trail leads on to the Hornoradíkovský brook, above which rises the granite rock city, the Philip's Stones. Over the hill of the rock - folk Kofrštán (Kupferstein -NJ -copper stone) the trail leads to Radíkov, through which it passes to the upper and lower hammer ponds. Below Radíkov, the trail connects to the red hiking trail, which leads the tour back to Český Rudolc.
