When summer fades, the quarry falls silent. The water’s surface calms, morning fog lingers over the water, and the surrounding forest slowly turns shades of yellow and rust. It’s a time for those seeking not a packed schedule, but peace and quiet.
We offer fall stays with an off-season discount of 20 to 35%. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down and treat yourself to a few days of quiet by the water.
The Smrčiny Quarry lies at the edge of the forest and pastures in the Smrčiny Nature Park, at the entrance to the Aš Promontory, 7 km from Františkovy Lázně. An old flooded quarry, with just four accommodations and plenty of space around them. The site is primarily intended for adult guests who come to relax, read, walk through the woods, or simply sit by the water with a cup of hot tea.

Autumn days here have their own slow rhythm. A morning walk through the forest, where you might even find a mushroom or two, followed by an afternoon bike ride along the bike path that runs right past the quarry. In the evening, the crackling of a fire, darkness falling earlier, and a sky full of stars.
When it gets chilly, an unusual self-service sauna in the sauna grove awaits you. Hot steam followed by the cool water of the quarry: in the fall, it’s an even more intense experience.
For your convenience, each campsite has drinking water and an electrical hookup—both included in the price.
Tips for trips in the area
There are numerous tourist destinations in the area: Františkovy Lázně (7 km), the Cheb Historic District (14 km), Vildštejn Castle (12 km), Seeberg Castle (5 km), the Háj u Aše observation tower (14 km), the “Czech Yellowstone”—Soos Geological Park (14 km)—as well as places that J. W. Goethe loved to visit: the Komorní Hůrka volcano (12 km) and the nearby Goethe Rocks (5 km). Just across the border in Germany, you’ll find the town of Selb (22 km), made famous by Rosenthal porcelain, or the Luisenburg Rock Labyrinth (40 km). If you’re a fan of golf, the nearby 18-hole course in Hazlov (4 km) or the 9-hole course near Luby await you.

Important Information
The quarry is not suitable for small children. The edge of the quarry is 2 to 6 meters above the water level along its entire perimeter and is not secured against falls. Most of the quarry is approximately 9 meters deep, with only one shallow area.
We ask all guests to respect the peaceful nature of the site and to be considerate of other visitors.

- On the plot there is a possibility to refill and use drinking water. The stand has a post with a water tap. During the winter, the posts are without water, but there is the possibility to draw water directly in the shaft at the borehole. Hose available.

- As long as you use eco means, I have no problem if you dump the water on the property outside the stand in the grass. Otherwise, please take the water contaminated by conventional means away.

Trouble-free arrival even in bad weather
The last 300 m or so is on an older asphalt road, broken in places - even larger caravans can easily drive up, just expect ruts in the asphalt; the profile of the road is regularly maintained so that branches do not scratch. Even in the winter months you can reach the quarry - just be respectful of the conditions. The meadow path to stand 4 is passable depending on the amount of snow, but it is not maintained.
Restriction of the access road

cycling
One of the 11 cycling routes in Aš leads directly around the quarry. This area has the densest network of cycling routes in the Karlovy Vary Region. Ride through the PP Smrčiny between Cheb and Aš, or head across the border to the German Naturpark Fichtelgrbirge.
winter sports
On the frozen surface you can skate in the quarry under suitable conditions. Watch out for holes in the ice - the quarry is frequented by hardy people! Trips on cross-country skis or snowshoes through the white silence are magical here.
water sports
Swimming is possible directly in the clean water of the quarry. Under the roof, you can take a dip in the Aquaforum Františkovy lázně (9km) or in the city spa in Bad Brambach (14km) or Bad Elster (24km).

The quarry is not suitable for small children! The edge of the quarry is 2-6 m above the water along its entire circumference and is not secured against falling. Most of the quarry is about 9 m deep, only in one place there is a small shallow area (about 1 m).
The site is intended for quiet relaxation in nature. Please consider whether a stay with children is suitable and whether you can maintain the peaceful nature of the site.
hiking
Wander to the places J.W. Goethe liked to visit (Goethe's Rock, Chamber Hill). The circular route near Vernéřov will take you through the history of the region. On the German side, the Vogtland Panorama Weg, which is appreciated by tourists, leads through Bad Brambach.

U lomu jsme vytvořili malý saunový háj, kde je možnost si pronajmout stavovou saunu s kamny na dřevo. Více se dozvíte po domluvě s majitelem.
Také máte možnost zavítat do několika nedalekých wellness center. např.
na Komorní hůrce (https://komornihurka.eu/…ss/) nebo saunová vesnice v Bad Brambachu. Další typy viz. kapitola koupání.
Animals
Mazlíčci jsou vítáni, pokud nenarušují klid místa:
- Musí být pod kontrolou (ideálně na vodítku)
- Nesmí chodit k cizím stáním
- Po zvířatech je třeba uklízet
Pokud pes reaguje na vše štěkotem, nebude pro toto místo vhodný. Ticho je zde společnou hodnotou.

A beautiful, peaceful place that nature has reclaimed. Without human intervention in the past, this place would never have come into being, and it’s wonderful that people are currently maintaining it in harmony with nature. This offers a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wants to escape—at least for a moment—the chaos, hustle, and stress...of modern life, to unwind and pause in nature—all while, thanks to human care and effort, enjoying at least some of the basic comforts of modern life in harmony with nature—comforts we’re all accustomed to and can hardly do without anymore… Electricity, drinking water…And other “perks” that aren’t even considered basic anymore… A sauna, a forest bar, and equipment for various sports activities are all available…
This place is truly beautiful. It combines privacy with the lovely setting of the quarry and all the comforts you need in a RV. We really enjoyed our long weekend here, with an evening campfire and a morning swim. It’s the perfect spot for exploring the surrounding area.
A stunning former forest quarry with RV sites
This was our second stay here. The campsite is right by the water, but as mentioned, that can mean a slight compromise on privacy due to people coming by to swim and the other site right next to it, which doesn’t have its own fire pit, so you have to share it. In any case, the quarry is amazing—it’s clean, and this spot is probably the nicest place to camp. For us, who love complete privacy, we’ll choose a different spot next time. I hope we’ll visit again this year and enjoy the sauna.
A truly beautiful and peaceful place. The water is clean and refreshing. The area is well-maintained and everything is tidy. The fire pit has been swept out. I have nothing but praise for it and highly recommend it.
