My husband inherited a cottage where extended family had gathered for over forty years. It is strategically located halfway between Prague and Brno and meets the 5K criteria for which our ancestors once chose it: Tranquility, its Charm, Swimming, Beautiful Scenery, Nearby Church... Our family of six spends most of our free days here (especially school holidays) often in the company of friendly families. The cottage, standing under an ash tree, offers a great deal of privacy, although it is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Zderaz in the Pardubice Region on the northern edge of the Highlands. With its almost three hundred years of history, it is a place that has its own spirit, charm and flies. We will be happy to share everything with you. It would help us with the cost of running it (and future improvements) and you can relax, invite friends over, or work online/offline overlooking the extensive woodland.

Handy info:
- 4 guest bedrooms (sleeps 9)
- bathroom with toilet (water heated by gas instantaneous heater, washing machine available)
- living room with stove (dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven, induction double hob, crockery...)
- wifi
- garden, outdoor seating area, fireplace, barbecue, cooking pot on the fire, sandpit and playhouse for children
Take your own bed linen and slippers to the cottage. Clean up on departure.

In the surroundings: shop COOP right next to the cottage, natural swimming pool near the hotel Renospond, quarry, forests, many possibilities for trips on foot and by bike or cross-country skiing: rock dwellings, Toulovec's stables, rock formations in the forest, lookout towers, the castle Nové Hrady, Rychmburk castle, eco-centre Pasíčka, geopark Železné hory, ruins of Košumberk, within reach of the town: Proseč, Skuteč, Litomyšl, Polička, Svitavy, Hlinsko, Vysoké Mýto, Chrudim, Pardubice.

Info for the heating season: there is a wood stove in the room, the heat is pleasant and radiant and the sounds of crackling wood make an unrepeatable atmosphere (you can also cook on the stove). There are gas wafers in three rooms, electric heating in the smallest and oldest room and a direct heating in the bathroom. The corridors and the attic are not heated, from the bedroom to the bathroom/toilet you walk through the cold like in the old days.

On arrival you will be entered in the registration book and pay a cash fee of 20kč per day, which we will remit to the village of Zderaz.

Cosy and beautiful cottage near Toulovec's stables. Communication with the owners absolutely no problems. Everything was beautifully prepared and ready for us. There was everything - equipped kitchen, cozy rooms. Everything without any problems.
22.11 - 24.11.2024 Michaela říká:
Thank you for the possibility of a nice accommodation in a traditional wooden cottage with a tiled stove. As an added bonus, we had a piano waiting for us, so we didn't have a moment to rest.
29.10 - 1.11.2024 Tomas říká:
cosy old cottage, recommended

I've been here once and I know I'll be back as long as I can... I recommend it very much especially with kids!

Sensitively maintained family cottage in the quiet village of Zderaz. Forest at hand. What more could you ask for. A paradise for mushroom pickers, every day there was a fry-up or sauce and we still took home two full baskets. Colourful forests, pure nature, frogs, ropes we met. Of course, everywhere someone bothers with the noise from the motorbike, it wants to go deep into the forest. In my experience, you can't avoid the noise even somewhere in the Jeseníky Mountains... but the cottage behind the fence and beautiful trees in the garden provides real privacy, no one is looking in your windows.
The cottage can fit a lot of people, it was too big for two, I felt like I was in a castle. Beautiful original tiles, lovely new windows on the front porch, there's even a piano in the sitting room, so take your sheet music with you! At the same time, luxury in the form of electrical appliances or even a waffle iron in the bedroom and apart from a sleeping bag or bed linen there is no need to take anything, there was even coffee to make, the kitchen is fully equipped. Certainly a relief for larger companies.
The only complication was the enclosed coop, which was a big factor in deciding where to go, as this vacation was supposed to be "luxury" compared to cabins and secluded cabins, i.e. with electricity, shower and shop:)) If you are car-free like us, I recommend to check the current situation, so you don't have to walk to Proseč to get bread (where it is fine and you can get there within an hour, you can also take a bus, but there are only a few buses). Otherwise, the connection is fine, you are in Pardubice by bus in an hour. I heard that there is even a Rohlik bus to Zderaz, so that's an alternative! Right in the village I recommend the free mini-museum -- a one-room house that summarizes the local history. Otherwise, we didn't meet a soul there except the very nice lady who checked us in.
