My husband inherited a cottage where extended family had gathered for over forty years. It is strategically located halfway between Prague and Brno and meets the 5K criteria for which our ancestors once chose it: Tranquility, its Charm, Swimming, Beautiful Scenery, Nearby Church... Our family of six spends most of our free days here (especially school holidays) often in the company of friendly families. The cottage, standing under an ash tree, offers a great deal of privacy, although it is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Zderaz in the Pardubice Region on the northern edge of the Highlands. With its almost three hundred years of history, it is a place that has its own spirit, charm and flies. We will be happy to share everything with you. It would help us with the cost of running it (and future improvements) and you can relax, invite friends over, or work online/offline overlooking the extensive woodland.
Handy info:
- 4 guest bedrooms (sleeps 9)
- bathroom with toilet (water heated by gas instantaneous heater, washing machine available)
- living room with stove (dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven, induction double hob, crockery...)
- wifi
- garden, outdoor seating area, fireplace, barbecue, cooking pot on the fire, sandpit and playhouse for children
Take your own bed linen and slippers to the cottage. Clean up on departure.
In the surroundings: shop COOP right next to the cottage, natural swimming pool near the hotel Renospond, quarry, forests, many possibilities for trips on foot and by bike or cross-country skiing: rock dwellings, Toulovec's stables, rock formations in the forest, lookout towers, the castle Nové Hrady, Rychmburk castle, eco-centre Pasíčka, geopark Železné hory, ruins of Košumberk, within reach of the town: Proseč, Skuteč, Litomyšl, Polička, Svitavy, Hlinsko, Vysoké Mýto, Chrudim, Pardubice.
Info for the heating season: there is a wood stove in the room, the heat is pleasant and radiant and the sounds of crackling wood make an unrepeatable atmosphere (you can also cook on the stove). There are gas wafers in three rooms, electric heating in the smallest and oldest room and a direct heating in the bathroom. The corridors and the attic are not heated, from the bedroom to the bathroom/toilet you walk through the cold like in the old days.
On arrival you will be entered in the registration book and pay a cash fee of 20kč per day, which we will remit to the village of Zderaz.
