For the second time and again beautiful. Finally winter with snow, the view from the window was like a fairy tale. The owners had prepared hardwood for the heater, so great even overnight. Thank you 😃
I definitely recommend this land, it was relaxing, beautiful nature, owners friendly. I'm sure it must be wonderful in the summer too.
Here are a few comments I would like to add to the stay:
1) If you're bringing a lot of stuff, keep in mind that it's a short walk from the car to the marquee.
2) In the winter, it was a bit of a struggle to get to the marquee because there was no beaten path, and if you want to follow the rules and not walk across the paddock, you're wading (and lugging all that stuff) knee deep in snow.
3) Which is also a big crisis as far as the location of the caddy is concerned, I guess it's fine in the summer, but once you're in your sleeping bag and the crisis hits, it's a real bummer to trudge through the snow to the caddy, and no wonder people take shortcuts across the paddock.
4) The stove warms the marquee quickly and sufficiently, and I was hot at times.
5) If you go to Šumava in winter and you don't have cross-country skis, you are a subspecies and you can't get anywhere on foot (e.g. to the source of the Vltava, etc.) because everywhere is off limits to pedestrians due to the cross-country ski trails.
7) There was plenty of wood, even the owner brought more wood during our stay.
8) The stove burns out quickly at night and in the morning the marquee is cold, so keep this in mind with the quality of your sleeping bag.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and would love to come back in the summer. Plus the stay is "dog friendly" which is also very nice.
We did a friend sleepover as a post-Christmas rest, trekking around the area and then sleeping in the marquee. The owner had prepared enough wood for us so even though it was -8 outside we made it just fine. I recommend everything as a change..
